Provision of archiving services for a a data set of the Joint Science Operations Centre for the Cluster mission.

Total Quantity or Scope

Cluster is a European Space Agency mission, consisting of 4 identical satellites orbiting in free formation to examine the interaction of the Sun with the Earth's magnetic field. The supplier is appointed to provide specialist archiving activities for one of the Cluster data sets.

Legal Justification

The effective and timely delivery of WBD Cluster science operations support work requires the use of hardware (both computing hardware and engineering models of their instrument), software, procedures, interfaces, detailed instrument knowledge, documentation and operational expertise developed by Sheffield University (who generated the largest part of this) and the University of Iowa from the early 1990s. All of this is Intellectual Property which belongs to these organisations.
