Description

The new teaching building will create circa 2 500 m2 of generic teaching space and social learning spaces across 4 floors, with a specialist mock ward area to support the College’s health and nursing course offers And will be required to achieve a BREEAM Very Good rating. The sports centre extension will provide circa 950 m2 of new accommodation to provide a Strength Gym, running track, therapy suite, dance studio and 3nr. Teaching spaces.

Total Quantity or Scope

The College utilised the open procurement procedure under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 with the aim of establishing a contract for a principal contractor (to deliver a works contract, through what is commonly termed in industry as a single stage process). The College’s requirement was procure a contractor to fulfil the role and responsibility of principal contractor under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, and meet all aspects of the specification herein. In order to control the construction phase does not lend itself to lotting without presenting the authority with unmanageable levels of risk and compromising the attainment of value for money. On the basis that the contract was procured through a single stage build route, with the principal contractor undertaking the entirety of the works then the provision of lots in this case was not applicable. A total 3no compliant tenders were received, which were evaluated on the basis of a combined quality and price assessment. Following this evaluation, John Turner Construction Group were appointed.
