Description

EKFB is seeking to appoint a subcontractor for the provision of labour, materials & equipment for the supply and application of Waterproofing and Firestopping to three (twin bore) precast concrete cut & cover tunnels, including design of Temporary works and production of fabrication designs. The Green Tunnels are cut and cover tunnels, which consists of excavating a trench (i.e. the cut) and constructing the tunnel within the cut and backfilling (i.e. cover) it afterwards, to restore the ground surface to its original state. By integrating the railway into the existing landscape, this tunnelling method contributes in mitigating potential impacts that it could have particularly in rural areas, such as visual pollution and wildlife fragmentation. For this reason, the Green Tunnels have been proposed as a sustainable solution for some sections of the HS2 route. The construction of the Three no cut and cover green tunnels will go ahead by using precast concrete segments at both Wendover, Greatworth and Chipping Warden and then by covering the pre-cast tunnels with a Compartmentalised membrane waterproofing system and also adding membrane support and fire protection. Tunnel length is 6km each of which there is 3 No of. Anticipated Programme Greatworth - Nov 21 - Feb 24 Chipping Warden - Jul 2021 - Jan 24 Wendover - Jun 22 - Nov 23
