Description

The project is being undertaken to protect the coastline to the north and east of the 18-36 runway, the primary runway at the airport. In recent decades the beach and dunes to the north and east of the airport have been subject to erosion. The extent of erosion is now such that if corrective action is not taken, it will soon impact on the existing infrastructure and potential operation of the airport. The works include the procurement and installation of rock armour and reno mattress along the coastal boundary line of the airport, at the interface between the dunes and beach, including the return to the estuary.
