Description
East Sussex County Council (‘ESCC’) is acting as lead authority for a new framework to provide community interpreting services, enabling public sector bodies to meet their commitment to delivering accessible services to the communities of East and West Sussex (the ‘Framework’). ESCC works in partnership with Surrey County Council (‘SCC’) through the Orbis Partnership, and it is envisaged that Surrey County Council, amongst other organisations, may access the Framework.

- Contract modified due to unforeseen circumstances.
Legal Justification
The previous extension provided additional time to prepare for a re-procurement. During this time framework partners were engaged, routes to market explored and agreed and a large-scale stakeholder consultation was undertaken. Feedback from these key activities were due to feed into the service specification and shape the procurement process, with much of this work being planned for January 2021 and the resulting tender being published in early March 2021. The scale and consequences of the post-Christmas wave of COVID-19 was unexpected and it has had a significant effect on these plans:- Our CCG partners have had to focus on more pressing COVID related demands, such as the roll out of vaccinations.- Our partners from other Councils have seen their workloads dramatically increase and, in some cases, have been temporarily re-deployed- A number of our local providers have shared their concerns about the upcoming re-procurement and their capacity to participate due to COVID demands
Other Information
The modification is for the whole framework for which there are 4 lots and 7 providers. Please see original award notice for more information.
