Description

Lot 1-Penstock Refurbishment- KBS Maritime require a supplier to undertake refurbishment works to penstocks within the saltwater networks within HMNB Portsmouth. These assets play a critical role in supporting the maintenance and upkeep of RN vessels, the penstocks require periods of deep maintenance within tight schedules to minimise disruption to ships movements. Onsite activities include: Confined space working, mechanical strip down and re-installation, minor electrical works; including isolation, structural/civil installation works, Offsite activites include: precision machining, steelwork design, shotblasting/recoating of penstock doors and/or the procurement of these services.

Other Information

Any supplier must be experienced in the management of work in confined spaces and frequent communication with the onsite AP's throughout the project timeline will be critical. It is expected that any supplier will be completely self sufficient WRT confined space equipment, KBS Maritime will not supply any equipment required. Lot 2 -Penstock Replace Drainage Main Pumps- KBS Maritime require a supplier to undertake a drainage pump replacement project within HMNB Portsmouth. The 2x drainage pumps that require replacement currently serve to keep the locks, docks and interconnecting culvert network are currently set up as dry well pumps. Due to the success of converting dry wells into wet wells in other pumping station on the base, KBS Maritime are looking to repeat this and install 2x new submersible pumps into newly converted wet wells, replace c. 120m of discharge pipework and install all new access and maintenance arrangements. Each pump must be capable of discharging 1500 m3/hr of saltwater at a head of approximately 20m. Onsite activities include: Confined space working, mechanical strip down and re-installation, electrical installation, concrete cutting, structural/civil installation works. Offsite activites include: pump system design, control panel design, civil and structural steelwork design, and/or the procurement of these services.
