Description
National Health Application and Infrastructure Service (NHAIS) is a system that has been developed by the NHS for the sole use of the NHS to help manage primary care patient registrations, practitioner payments, population screening and other services. Dedalus then took over support in 2021 and are now the only supplier with the relevant skills and knowledge required to support this system. BSO run a customised version of the software in N.I. to better meet the needs of the services they provide. The NHAIS system has been used exclusively in N.I. since 2004 to provide the services noted below that are essential to H&SC in N.I. It is currently due for replacement as part of the Digital Identity Project at a cost of approx. £20M (as per current BC). There is currently no other supplier for these services.
Total Quantity or Scope
The services provided by NHAIS are required on an on-going basis and no other supplier can provide this service. Annual payments for software licences, support and maintenance are required in order for NHAIS to be legally and effectively operated by Family Practitioner Services. This will also include any upgrades of the Cache database as required. Failure to carry out required upgrades to the Cache database will result in increased vulnerability and security risk as the current version is out of support. STA8304 was completed in 2020 for NHAIS annual support and maintenance to DXC for £1.2m. Dedalus are now providing annual support and maintenance instead of DXC. A further £50,000 is required over the period of the contract to ensure that upgrades to the Cache databases are completed.
