Description

Watford Borough Council operates a Museum within the Town. As part of the collection, the Museum has a small textile store where mould growth has recently been found on some items whilst completing inventory work. The textile collection contains a variety of daily working- and middle-class clothing, school, work and military uniforms, coats, some wedding dresses and includes a small number of hats and shoes. Materials vary including wool, silk, leather, cotton and furs. The periods covered are predominantly Victorian and 20th Century. We are seeking an accredited conservator / conservation company to provide a quotation for collection and off-site treatment of the costume collection, which contains approximately 540 boxed items and 120 hung items.
