Description

The contracts will provide statutory services. Healthwatch England is the national consumer champion in health and care. They have significant statutory powers to ensure the voice of the consumer is strengthened and heard by those who commission, deliver and regulate health and care services. The Health and Social Care Act 2012 introduced a statutory duty for Local Authorities to make arrangements for a local Healthwatch to be the Health and social care consumer champion, this replaced the Local Involvement Networks (LINk’s) The main service requirement is to provide a local Healthwatch service in line with all the relevant legislation. There is also a strong argument to strengthen the role of Healthwatch to provide the information and advice about NHS and social care services to ensure best value for money. There will also be a requirement to update and manage the data on the Live Well Liverpool data base and the specific directories that data subsequently feeds.
