This PIN is established to allow Suppliers to express an interest in a Market engagement day to be held on line on 18/06/2024, expressions of interest to be made via the In Tend portal https://sell2.in-tend.co.uk/blpd/publictenders This is a Free to register portal and you need to register in order to express an interest. This healthcare provision is within the secure estate of a police custody suite/unit. As such the medical healthcare supports the rights of the service user and the role the police have of investigating crime. In this respect the Police are strictly governed by legislation in particular the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 and its Codes of Practice. This places a specific legal responsibility on the Custody officer (usually a Police Sergeant) who is responsible for ensuring the legal process is discharged and has a strict duty of care to all detainees. This will mean their close involvement in decisions to refer for medical assessment and a duty to liaise and confer with HCPs , who also have legal and registration requirements around their practice and patient confidentiality, in order to carry out that duty.People coming into custody will come from different backgrounds and have an array of life experiences involving adversity, trauma, poverty and social exclusion. It will be important that principles of having a trauma informed approach are adopted to ensure that staff have an understanding about different presentations and challenging behaviour, and why people may react in different ways to being in a custodial environment as well as be hostile to those in authority, so that good outcomes for healthcare are reached.
