1 Forestry Projects and Tree Felling

Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission plc (the Authority) is the licensed operator for the electricity transmission network in the north of Scotland. In-line with the UK Government policy, the objectives of Net Zero decarbonisation and significant expansion in renewable generation in this area has driven a need to undertake a series of network reinforcement and expansion projects to increase capacity and improve network security. This work includes the building, rebuilding and upgrade of Transmission overhead lines, the development of grid substations, converter stations and underground cable systems. Due to the extent of this project portfolio, forestry is inevitably affected and woodland removal is required in project areas to facilitate the construction and reinforcement of Transmission infrastructure. To address this, the Authority has awarded a framework for the delivery of woodland removal/felling services to support a proposed significant programme of capital projects.
2 Operational Tree Cutting and Maintenance

The Authority has awarded a framework agreement for Vegetation Management services to maintain a compliant network in accordance with the Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations (ESQCR) including network resilience as defined within Energy Networks Association Engineering Technical Report 132.
