Description

Provision of services to establish and coordinate an Aquaculture Network to deliver best practise, knowledge sharing and capacity building in Bangladesh, under the Ocean Country Partnership Programme.

Total Quantity or Scope

The Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP) is funded through official development assistance (ODA) as part of the UK’s £500 million Blue Planet Fund. Through the OCPP, the UK government partners with ODA-eligible countries to deliver tangible and positive impacts on the livelihoods of coastal communities that depend on healthy marine ecosystems. The programme supports countries to strengthen marine science expertise, develop science-based policy and management tools, and create educational resources for coastal communities.Under the sustainable seafood objective, the programme supports the development of the skills and expertise needed to adopt sustainable seafood practices. This will reduce risks such as the spread of zoonotic diseases from unsustainable or unsafe activities and will support trade in safe seafood. The programme will also support the development of better management, monitoring and enforcement capabilities regarding illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. The primary aim of this Contract is to create and/or reinforce a network of brackish water/marine aquaculture experts across different aquaculture disciplines and practices in Bangladesh, with the potential to forge a long-term legacy beyond the OCPP. This network is hereafter referred to as the Aquaculture Network. This Contract will be awarded to a single Supplier to act as the Aquaculture Network coordinator – however, it is absolutely essential that multiple secondary organisations are engaged to form the Aquaculture Network, as this is the key objective of the work.Suppliers submitting bids must demonstrate that they have established aquaculture collaborations in Bangladesh – whether existing/long-term or newly formed for this specific requirement – and proof of actively working in Bangladesh in the relevant fields. The Aquaculture Network must include organisations that are already engaged on the ground (for example engaging with aquaculture farmers, including women and youth, DoF or BFRI), and promoting expertise and skills exchange with other orgnisations.Expertise required within the Aquaculture Network primarily includes best aquaculture practice and husbandry, disease management and diagnostics, and water quality management and assessment.
