Description

Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust , the Lead Trust /Commissioner is seeking to procure a high quality Prosthetic & Orthotic Service to integrate within a multi disciplinary team. This service supports both Adult and Paediatric patients with physical impairments, aiming to help them regain independence and improve their quality of life. The service will primarily operate from West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre, covering the supply, fitting, maintenance, and aftercare of prosthetic and orthotic devices. It will also include clinical assessments, custom fittings, ongoing adjustments, and comprehensive rehabilitation support.The Prosthetics service at the Centre is one of only 35 in the UK, serving patients from a broad geographical area. The service provides artificial limbs to clients with upper and lower limb deficiencies, both acquired and congenital, along with all related prosthetic, technical, therapeutic, and holistic support. Patients are registered with the service on a lifelong basis.The Trust seeks a provider capable of delivering high-quality, flexible, and cost-effective Prosthetics and Orthotic service. The contract will require service provision at the Trust’s current sites, ensuring continuity and quality care for patients as well those of its Tertiary centres based within other NHS Trusts including the Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.It is anticipated that the contract shall be awarded for a minimum of 5 years with an option to extend for a further 2 x 12 month periods.
