Other Information

Wootton Parish Council has acquired a piece of land adjacent to a housing estate at Simpson Manor, Wootton, Northampton. Simpson Manor stands on the site of Quebec Barracks built in 1939 for the Northamptonshire Regiment and named after the Battle of Quebec in 1759. The Regiment moved out in 1959 following their merger with the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment. In 1960 the Royal Pioneer Corp moved into the barracks, renamed Simpson Barracks. The Corps remained in the barracks until 1993 when they were amalgamated with other units to form the Royal Logistical Corps. The site was then re-developed for housing and this piece of land designated for open space serving the development. Wootton Parish Council would like to create a Memorial Garden commemorating the Regiment.
