Description
The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre NHS Trust are acting on behalf of Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board who are issuing this PIN to engage with the market to understand options available for a Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (ePMA) System.
Total Quantity or Scope
The Health Board are seeking expressions of interest from suppliers for a ePMA system within all inpatient wards (excluding intensive care) and outpatient clinics (excluding haematology prescriptions on chemocare) at its hospital sites: University Hospital of Wales, University Hospital Llandough and Hafan Y Coed Mental Health Unit. Inpatient prescribing and medicines administration records are currently paper-based. Good prescribing practice, decision-support and formulary management are supported using local web-based systems which have been developed over recent years. Our strategy within CAVUHB is to rapidly improve our digital maturity thereby making better and more use of data to enhance service delivery and patient safety. We are actively working to interoperate, link, share and exchange information without having to ‘integrate’ applications across all our settings including primary, secondary, community care and mental health. The Health Board wish to replace the use of all handwritten drug charts with an ePMA system. The Health Board does not yet have an electronic patient record (EPR) system, however, we are planning to create one using a combination of Build and Best of Breed. The Health Board are seeking a system which will be interoperable with current electronic systems used within the UHB, which are: - Patient management system (PMS) – a patient administration system used in most inpatient areas - PARIS – an electronic patient record system working across the integrated health and social care system, including patient management of inpatient mental health services. - Electronic prescribing of chemotherapy (Child Health and Clinical Haematology). This will remain in place following implementation of an ePMA system and as such is out of scope of this project. - WellSky pharmacy dispensary system - Inform online formulary – the local formulary database - WOREQ – ward stock medicines ordering system - All-Wales Intensive Care Information System (WICIS) by ASCOM. - Medicines transcribing and electronic discharge (MTeD) via Welsh Clinical Portal (WCP) across all specialities (except Mental Health) which interfaces with GP and community pharmacy systems to support safe medicines reconciliation on admission and effective discharge communication. - An outpatients prescription generating platform (COPPS). To understand the systems available within the market, the Health Board wishes to hold a supplier day on either Friday the 26th February or Monday the 1st March for the Project team to engage with the market to understand the solutions available. Should you wish to attend, you will need to email Emma Lane, Procurement Business Manager on emma.lane@wales.nhs.uk and you will be provided a timeslot. Please ensure you provide the following information; - Full Company name and address - Main and Secondary Contact name and title - Main and Secondary Contact mobile and office number - Main and Secondary Contact email and office base addresses - What your company could offer in relation to this project Please note that CV reserve the right to include any other Health Board / Trust that could potentially be included in this Procurement on an All Wales basis.
