Description

A physical wireless (Wi-Fi) connectivity in internal and external public spaces, with user interfaces, platforms, and authentication services that enable safe and secure public access to the internet.

Total Quantity or Scope

The core objective of this procurement is to establish a contract between AWC and a suitable supplier to deliver Citizen Wi-Fi in the Adur and Worthing area, within the stated AWC contract value. In addition to the main objective, AWC intends, through this procurement, to enable other local authorities in Sussex to adopt Citizen Wi-Fi at a later date by entering into their own contract with the supplier on the same or substantially the same contract terms. The authorities listed below have expressed particular interest to AWC: • Chichester District Council; • Arun District Council; • Horsham District Council; • Crawley Borough Council; • West Sussex County Council and Districts and Boroughs; • Authorities associated with the Greater Brighton Economic Board (GBEB). The duration of the contract with AWC shall be for an initial period of (5) years. The option shall exist to extend the contract for up to a further (2) year period by agreement between AWC and the supplier, subject to Council Authority and budget, up to a maximum contract term of (7) years. The value of the contract associated with Adur and Worthing Councils’ service is estimated at GBP 1.04 million, comprised of capital investment in hardware, software, configuration, implementation, and revenue costs associated with running the service over a maximum period of 7 years. To support the option for other bodies to participate, and to allow for further platform development and coverage expansion of the AWC Citizen Wi-Fi service into more zones, a higher potential contract value of GBP 10 million applies. However, it should be noted that the ‘secured’ budget allocated at this stage is GBP 1.04 million and that the initial contract, as a result of this procurement, will not exceed the secured budget.
