Description
The works are the removal and replacement of temporary transfer pipe work and sea outfall, conveying water from the No 2 shaft at the former Michael colliery at East Wemyss in Fife to a discharge point 25 m beyond the Mean Low Water Springs (MLWS) in the Firth of Forth, with a permanent installation. This comprises the site clearance of the existing infrastructure and the detailed design and construction of a pumping station, control building, working platform and outfall pipe line. This shall include the design and implementation of any additional ground investigations and other required surveys to inform the detailed design. The works shall also include laying of a duct for power cable installation by others.
Total Quantity or Scope
The project is being undertaken to continue pumping mine water from the former Michael colliery following the completion of a temporary pump test. The requirement to pump water is to control the mine water level within the mining block preventing uncontrolled outburst of mine water.
