The contract is to provide property-related Legal Services across the DWP Estate. Activities to manage the portfolio of DWP's leases (including but not limited to items such as lease renewals, rent reviews, liaison with landlords where needed etc.).

Legal Justification

The increase in the volume of the services has been brought about as an indirect consequence of the economic emergency resulting from lockdown measures imposed in response to the REEP/ C-19 pandemic which the Department could not have foreseen at the time it awarded the Contract in March 2018. In particular, it could not have foreseen the level of property legal services required to support the delivery of accommodation to house resource at pace.
