Description

The University of Warwick Department of Physics has a requirement to purchase three magic-angle spinning (MAS) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) probes for operation in a wide-bore (89 mm) magnetic field of 20.0 Tesla (corresponding to a 1H Larmor frequency of 850 MHz). The deadline for tender submissions is Tuesday 31 March 2020.

Lot Division

1 A Triple Resonance Probe for MAS of at least 60 kHz

• a MAS probe (capable of a rotation frequency of at least 60 kHz) for BOTH double-resonance (HX, from 14N to 31P) and triple-resonance (at least 13C with 14N to 2H) operation. • state the 1H, 13C and 15N nutation frequencies in triple-resonance mode and the 1H, 13C, 14N, 15N and 31P nutation frequencies in double-resonance mode. • specify the MAS frequency stability at the maximum stated MAS frequency. • please state the volume of the rotors, the temperature range of operation and quantify the heating induced by spinning at maximum spinning frequency. • the quotation should indicate, as separate items, the cost of purchasing rotors (complete with caps) and packing tools.

2 A Triple Resonance Probe for MAS of at least 40 kHz

• an intermediate-volume (at least 8 L active volume) MAS probe (capable of a rotation frequency of at least 40 kHz) for BOTH double-resonance (HX, from 14N to 31P) and triple-resonance (31P with 29Si to 23Na; 31P with 13C to 11B, 11B with 17O to 29Si; 11B with 29Si to 23Na) operation. • state the 1H and 13C nutation frequencies in triple-resonance mode and the 1H, 13C, 14N, 15N and 31P nutation frequencies in double-resonance mode.

3 A High Temperature Laser Heated MAS Probe

• a large-volume laser-heated MAS probe (capable of a rotation frequency of at least 5 kHz) for single-resonance (X, from 23Na to at least 17O) operation at high temperature (over 400 oC). • state the 13C and 17O nutation frequencies. • specify the MAS frequency stability at the maximum stated MAS frequency. • please state the temperature range of operation and for how long the probe can be used in the 850 MHz magnet before the safety temperature of the magnet shim coil (80 ⁰C) is reached. • the quotation should indicate, as separate items, the cost of purchasing extra rotors (complete with caps) and packing tools.
