Description

The aim of the service is to meet the musculoskeletal and joint needs of people and support them to self- manage their condition. The service should be holistic in its provision and work to improve the person's psychological well‐being, social functioning and participation in everyday activities and to reduce the likelihood of negative outcomes associated with pain and impaired function arising, such as depression, social isolation and loss of employment.

Total Quantity or Scope

Diagnostic MSK Pathway management for • X-rays; • MRI; • Nerve conduction studies; • Ultrasound for diagnostics; • Guided injections; and • Blood tests. Intervention and Treatment • Triage, assessment, intervention/treatment and management. • Gait and foot analysis. • Acupuncture. • Pain management. • Joint and other injections (large and small joints), including for the treatment of bursitis, plantar fasciitis, tenosynovitis tunnel syndromes where appropriate. • Manual therapy. • Advice to people on self-management and lifestyle adjustments. • Exercises, programmes and rehabilitation. • All investigations needed to facilitate diagnosis. • Provision of and training in the use of appropriate equipment for people. • Advice, information, education and training for other healthcare staff including GPs and other professionals and organisations to improve knowledge and ability to support people with their planned MSK and physiotherapy techniques and programmes in order to improve people's functioning and management of their musculoskeletal condition. • Advice, information, education, training and support for people and their family/carers/friends on understanding and managing their own condition and how to improve their functioning. This will include provision of treatment and self-management plans and written and web based information. Additional information: This interim contract is for 12 months with a value of circa £1m dependent on patient activity. Rights are reserved to extent this contract by up to a further 12 months, with a potential overall value of £2m (24 months)
