Legal Justification
The Official Food Control Interventions and Inspections framework commenced on 18 May 2018 and was extended up to 31 March 2021, there are no further opportunities to extend. The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted on the food inspections service and the need to prioritise the public health emergency during the pandemic and deliver the team’s public health related functions, and Council’s Covid-19 Outbreak Plan, as a result there has been reduced time to complete the full procurement process for a new contract within this time-frame. A full procurement exercise is now planned to be undertaken with a new contract in place for 1 April 2022 as a result this contract needs extending to ensure the local authorities can continue to meet the requirements of the service in the meantime.
