Public Health England (PHE) has awarded a contract to SPT Labtech Ltd (UK) to procure Mosquito HV and Dragonfly Discovery Liquid handling devices.

Total Quantity or Scope

This is part of a critical project to rapidly expand the SARS-CoV-2 sequencing capacity under the Genomics testing expansion slated for the 2nd half of 2021. These liquid handling requirements are for the urgent expansion of high throughput to meet the extra daily testing for in some PHE laboratories between June and December 2021.

Legal Justification

These are essential requirements of expanding high throughout SAR-CoV-2 sequencing within an urgent timeframe, whilst also providing a legacy of equipment with the functionality to be adapted and repurposed in future. UK supply of consumable tips is a key concern to avoid disruptions to this critical service. A VEAT notice was published and no challenges or queries were made from other suppliers.
