Description
Public Health England (PHE) is responsible for the provision of public health stocks of exotic antivenoms for NHS emergency use in the UK. The antivenoms are used in the event of someone being bitten or stung by an exotic venomous animal. This requirement is to source 24 different highly specialist exotic antivenoms from national and international Suppliers.
Total Quantity or Scope
This purchase will entail obtaining 24 different highly specialist exotic antivenoms from national and international Suppliers. There are 11 different suppliers, each of whom supplies a very small volume of antivenoms. PHE will communicate with suppliers and place orders following an exchange of e-mails with the supplier to confirm price per dose, shelf life and delivery timescales. The UK hub sites based across the country are required to hold specified minimum volume on likely treatment dosage. This will allows delivery to be made within 5 hours (best endeavours) from when the request is received to any hospital location within the UK.

Legal Justification
As there are 11 different suppliers for this purchase, each of whom supplies a very small volume of antivenoms, Public Health England will communicate with suppliers and place orders following an exchange of e-mails with the supplier to confirm price per dose, shelf life and delivery timescales. The UK hub sites based across the country are required to hold specified minimum volume on likely treatment dosage. This allows delivery to be made within 5 hours (best endeavours) from when the request is received to any hospital location within the UK. As there are very limited suppliers in the Aativenom market we are using Reg 32(2)(b)(ii) to award the contract to 11 Suppliers, based mainly internationally. The total contract value specified per supplier cannot be confirmed, as this is dependant on different expiry date of stocks held across various sites across UK. Additionally, the selection of each antivenom will be based on the opinion of the Advisory Group. Note that under "Section V: Award of contract" no tenders were received; however, for the purpose of populating the field "11" has been entered as the contract is being awarded to 11 suppliers. A value needed to be entered as the field was mandatory. Also under the same section "Total value of the contract/lot" is appearing as £309173.57, however, the total value to be awarded during the contract term may be low as this is dependant upon factors mentioned above. A value needed to be entered as the field was mandatory.
