Description
Air Quality Supersite Triplets (UK-AQST) is a NERC funded national facility, and has been funded by NERC capital fund to provide access to two mobile air quality laboratories for UK atmospheric science community. The new air quality laboratories will be paired with one of the existing supersites in Birmingham, London or Manchester, to provide a first-ever monitoring of detailed air pollution composition at three different types of sites, e.g., roadside, urban, and rural (upwind) locations. As part of the newly funded UK-AQST, we wish to acquire one online XRF ambient multi- metal monitoring system and one Fidas, exactly the same as in the existing NERC-funded air quality supersite, for each mobile laboratory.
Total Quantity or Scope
To provide the comparable results with data from existing air quality supersites in Birmingham, London or Manchester, the Air Quality Supersite Triplets wish to procure - Ambient Metals Monitoring System - XRF check standards - PM10 inlet - PM2.5 inlet - Roof-pass through kit - Inlet Swapping system. Additional information: The University has applied a 10 calendar days standstill period from publication of this notice.

Legal Justification
AECOM is the only company that offers both instruments that provide an online observation of a range of metals in PM2.5 and PM10 as well as total mass concentration of PM2.5 and PM10. The online XRF instrument must provide the measurement of 67 metals simultaneously including Pb, As, and Cd. The instruments must be validated by US EPA Environmental Technology Verification programme, an automated source characterisation software for easy assessment of data collected on system, automatically crate graphical displays, option to connect remotely to the system, proven ability to sample while in a moving vehicle, ability to automatically alternate between sampling PM10 and PM2.5. To the best of our knowledge, Xact is the only instrument that can meet this requirement The Air Quality Supersite Triplets, funded by NERC, aims to provide consistent observations of aerosol and gas compositions at a roadside, urban background and rural sites simultaneously. The newly funded two air quality supersites will be paired with the existing urban background site, either at Birmingham, London or Manchester for observations. Each of the existing supersites has exactly the same Xact and Fidas that we seek to procure. This will ensure that we are able to provide a consistent observation of aerosol compositions at all three sites so that we can better understand their sources and processes.
