Description

The successful supplier will be required to provide catering services for Winchcombe School.

Total Quantity or Scope

Winchcombe School is set in a beautiful countryside location that serves to inspire and develop our pupils to become confident individuals. We have a well-developed and extensive careers and enrichment programme that offers pupils opportunities to explore their ideas for the future and experience different places. Our motto is ‘Achieving Success Together’ whilst pupils and staff work hard each day to build that success we also have an active and engaged group of parents (94 % of said they would recommend the school to another parent Ofsted 2018) along with a dedicated and skilled governing body who contribute to Winchcombe School’s family ethos. The School Values include: • attitude: we work hard each day to achieve our potential; • stewardship: We care for the environment around us; • pride: we take pride in ourselves and in our school; • integrity: We are truthful, respectful and honest; • resilience: we show determination to persevere and progress; • enjoy: We celebrate the achievements of others and ourselves; • success: we will succeed by living these values every day. The client recognises that School food standards provide an important nutritional safety net for pupils, therefore all food and drink provided by or on behalf of the School shall comply with the school food standards legislation. The client requires year one menus to be fully compliant with the Food for Life Silver standard. The School also recognises the need for proactive marketing of popular, healthy menu items, to maximise pupil uptake and move increasingly towards cost neutral catering’. The guaranteed performance contract will be for an initial period of three years, with the opportunity to extend for a further period of two years at the discretion of the school governing body. The Client intends to focus heavily on healthy, fresh, seasonal, locally sourced produce prepared on-site and sees the catering service as an exciting opportunity to complement the overall pupil experience, through the regular introduction of new ingredients, themed and promotional events. The successful Supplier will be required to play their part in acting as a catalyst for improvement of the pupil experience. The client requires the successful contractor to be extremely engaged in leveraging the catering service, to the benefit of pupils and the local community alike, proactively supporting an active school calendar, with multiple promotions in any given month. A pupil centric ethos is required in practise, continuing the high level of pupil engagement that the School has previously developed. Winchcombe School is in the process of increasing the current dining room capacity to cater for an increase in pupil numbers, rising from the current 490 to circa 550. The School is also developing a gym and outside ‘Quadrant’ dining area, which shall be provisioned with tables and seating, enabling greater flexibility as required. The vision is to encourage more pupils to sit and enjoy their meal, rather than have to ‘Grab and Go’ due to restricted seating capacity. Where you identify that a level of inward capital investment is required, you shall be asked to provide full details of the equipment that you propose, the cost associated and a justifiable reason as to why this investment will enhance the current service.
