Description

The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (“BEIS”) wishes to commission an Energy Price Signals Study with an objective to provide an evidence-based ‘menu’ of options for what an alternative system of network and policy charges in the GB should look like, based on principles consistent with cost-effective decarbonisation of the energy system. For background information, the full specification and further information on this project please see the ITT.

Total Quantity or Scope

This procurement is for an Energy Price Signals study only. This Energy Price Signals study should provide an evidence based ‘menu’ of options for what new energy price signals could look like, and an assessment of how those options may enhance opportunities for cost-effective decarbonisation. The final evidence-based option needs to be practically implementable as part of a possible testing environment. The findings from the Energy Price Signals study will be crucial in supporting BEIS to shape the next steps of the AEM programme. This is the first contract that sits within the AEM programme. Subject to further decisions being made by BEIS, with support from Ofgem, to progress with the next steps of the programme, any further work will be procured separately.
