The Trust maintains 70 large, raised reservoirs under the Reservoirs Act and a further 11 small, raised reservoirs, there is also a significant length of feeder channels upstream of the reservoirs and bypass channels down the side of reservoirs. These require careful vegetation management to ensure good surveillance around these features and ensuring these remain safe and features such as trees remain healthy and do not put the embankment dam at risk. We also need to keep the vegetation well maintained around the perimeter of the reservoirs to enable safe and welcoming visitor access to the Trust's property. Works expected will be grass cutting, hedge work, herbicide spraying, tree work, structure clearance works.

8 Waterside Mooring Maintenance
  • Value: £2M

Waterside moorings have 3700 berths nationally across c330 mooring sites. This represents about 11% of moorings available across the canal network. London / South East typically contains our highest concentration of residential / premium sites, with the highest density of berths. North and the Midlands sites tend to be more rural. The works are similarly split - a large density of sites that require vegetation management are in the North, with a greater focus on site management including hard surfaces, weed management and service elements in the South East / London / London Docklands area.
