Quotations are invited by the Council of the Borough of Kirklees (the "Council") from Suppliers with relevant experience and ability to demonstrate sufficient capacity for design, build and install of the Town centre pedestrian platforms - Parklets at the site of Church Street, Huddersfield. This contract is anticipated to commence on 2nd August 2021 and will expire on 29th Kirklees Council has been awarded funding under the 'Welcome Back Fund' to provide highway improvements aimed at promoting social distancing. The Welcome Back Fund (WBF) builds on the existing Reopening High Streets Safely Fund (RHSSF) scope (strands 1-4) with the addition of two new strands that further broaden the scope of the fund, supporting a wide range of intervention measures. A large part of this will involve the installation of street furniture to segregate vehicles and pedestrians and allow social distancing to be managed safely. This project, under the Welcome Back Fund for Kirklees, is receiving up to £389,000 of funding from the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020. The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (and in London the intermediate body Greater London Authority) is the Managing Authority for European Regional Development Fund.
