Description

Please note this contract has been awarded. Following a Request for Quotes procurement the Learning Disability Service has been Awarded to The Advocacy Project Summary of strengths of the recommended supplier The Advocacy Project's submission was strong, clearly demonstrating how they will deliver the service in line with the specification with some added value. A summary of their strengths includes: - Strong commitment to engage under-represented groups identified in the service specification. Their response detailed plans to target each under-represented group with a tailored approach. For example, using Intensive Interaction and Creative Conversations to engage people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). - Amongst their achievements and awards they are one of the first organisations to support an expert by experience with PMLD to be a member of a Learning Disability Partnership Board (in Westminster), which is the equivalent of "Planning Together" in Camden. - They deliver lectures to health and social care staff on reducing health inequalities. - Commitment to improve diversity of the experts by experience delivering Camden's service. They plan to run a targeted recruitment campaign to voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations working with Bangladeshi, Black African and Black Caribbean residents. - They demonstrated added value through their campaigning commitments, with good examples of both local and national campaigns, e.g. a parliamentary reception on work and benefits presented by Camden experts by experience at the House of Commons (undertaken when The Advocacy Project previously delivered the LD Experts by Experience service in Camden, up to 2017), raising awareness of the disproportionate impact of 'permitted work restrictions' on disabled people. - They have a wealth of experience in delivering user involvement services across all care groups, with specialisms in learning disabilities, mental health, dual diagnosis, and older people. They have over 20 years' experience working with experts by experience across London including Camden Brent, Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea. - Experts by experience are embedded at every level of their organisation, from service design and delivery, through to oversight, scrutiny, management, and governance. Resident voices will influence organisational strategy and practice. - They are an experienced provider in Camden. - The service will sit alongside three of their existing Learning - The service will continue to be based at the Greenwood Centre to maintain continuity for the group and support the pan-disability vision of the Centre for Independent Living (CIL), promoting awareness and supporting its sustainability. Experts by experience will be supported to work in partnership with CDA and contribute to co-producing the vision and shape of the Greenwood CIL.
