Description

Rendlesham Forest Centre Development Feasibility work: RIBA stages 2 - 4 Phase 1 (See Appendix 2A) & RIBA stages 2 - 3 Phase 2 (See Appendix 2B). The project is to progress the potential re-development of Rendlesham Forest to re-design, improve and expand car parking and the provision of enhanced visitor experience via improved visitor offerings while protecting the forest environment: • 'Telling Our Story' • Visitor information engagements including construction of a small-scale visitor information building/structure. • Modular style catering facility with outdoor (covered) seating areas. • BBQ area and recreation open space. • Develop a service yard element for infrastructure maintenance/utilities. • Increased toilet facilities (separate provision with expanded capacity to existing based on a 'modular style' toilet facility and then construction of a permanent toilet building with accessibility/changing spaces provision). • Trails, play and regional heritage provisions. The site currently receives approx. 110,000 visitors pa and it is considered that the existing infrastructure is insufficient and outdated for such capacity and the potential for increased visitor numbers to the site. As an organisation we want to be promoting the well-being benefits offered by woodland environments and to: • 'Tell Our Story' and provide 'Superb Forests' for societal benefits, • Provide managed visitor experiences and recreation that does not negatively impact on environment, • Further promote organisational sustainability - economically and environmentally, with a focus on doing so at a level appropriate to the site with a long-term future proofing approach that will see future generations benefit, as well as current generations. The area is located around the existing main car park area and surrounding land. The Supplier provides & reports on: • design drawings/plans • details of engineering works required • materials to be used and utilities provision • detailed costings provided for the relevant cost of works.
