Lot Division

1 Healthy Child Programme Health Visiting and School Health

Lot 1 Healthy Child Programme Health Visiting and School Health Provision of antenatal reviews from 28 weeks of pregnancy. • Provision of all mandatory universal reviews as prescribed by the Healthy Child Programme at the following points: o Antenatal o New births o 6-8 weeks o 9-12 months o 2-2.5 years o Provision of school readiness health visitor review for pre-school children including key relevant development assessment and referral (where relevant) • Targeted and intensive support for young parents and high risk/vulnerable families who meet thresholds of need, via the provision of a Health Visitor led Enhanced Family Support Pathway • Provision of the National Child Measurement Programme at commencement and completion of Primary School and work in partnership to support children and their families to access relevant local interventions and services • Provision of Special Education School Health Nursing interventions for public health, including identification and management of children with Education Health Care Plans (EHCP)s.

2 Healthy Child Programme Breastfeeding Peer Support

The service would be an integral component of the 0-25 Healthy Child Programme and work collaboratively with the 0-5years provision. The service would be expected to: • Recruit volunteers wishing to support breastfeeding women in Knowsley. • Promote the take up of breastfeeding in Knowsley through positive messaging and support on hospital wards and in the community • Ensure all volunteer peer supporters are trained to an appropriate level (e.g. La Leche) and adhere to any relevant training requirements identified by the Healthy Child Programme 0-25 Service Provider. • Work with relevant organisations (e.g. the 0-25 Service Provider) to ensure all breastfeeding women are offered a peer support Service Work collaboratively with the Healthy Child Programme 0-25 Service Provider to ensure that Volunteers have a suitable support network, including supervision, regular training and quality assurance. • Deliver ward based breastfeeding initiation support to Knowsley women, by working collaboratively with other Provider organisations who support, women in hospital wards. • Ensure policies and protocols are in place to ensure volunteer peer supporters work in a safe and consistent manner with clients and other staff

3 Healthy Child Programme Maternal Exercise

To increase physical activity levels and contribute to improving health and wellbeing outcomes of Knowsley residents through a free programme of antenatal and mother and baby physical activity and lifestyle education sessions. 4 Healthy Child Programme School Entry Hearing Screening

The aim of the service is to identify children with hearing impairment at school entry in order to provide appropriate support to maximise speech perception and the resulting attainment of appropriate language skills to support them in achieving their potential. The objectives of the service are: • To offer appropriate hearing screening to all children aged 4 and 5 when they are in Reception and all children of any age entering Special Schools. • To identify children with possible hearing impairments and promptly refer them into appropriate services for management. • To provide information on children who fail the screen and are referred to audiology for further assessment to stakeholders (e.g. GPs, parents, schools) to ensure appropriate support is provided in all settings.
