Description

This term contract is for underwater bridge inspections for bridges and structures across Cumbria. The contract will comprise of an annual programme of inspections for each year of the term contract. Inspections are both planned in advance and required at the discretion of the Term Contract Service Manager.

Total Quantity or Scope

As part of its capital works programme the Council carries out inspections and reactive maintenance and repairs to its structures where defects occur or are identified that if left unattended could result in structural collapse and risk to the public. Following a programme of Level 2 Scour Assessments across the County on the higher priority routes, a number of bridges have been identified with a Scour Risk Rating of either 1 or 2 (highest or second highest theoretical risk rating). These require regular inspections for scour damage either until foundation depths and founding material have been proven or until scour protection measures have been provided. In addition, some other bridges have been included at the specific request of the Bridge Inspection Team and these require inspections at periodic intervals generally less frequent than annual inspections. Additional information: “This Term Contract Agreement for underwater bridge inspections is for use by the following Contracting Authorities that exist on 1st December 2021 and any successor council(s) as defined in The Local Government (Structural Changes) (Transfer of Functions, Property, Rights and Liabilities) Regulations 2008 to the Contracting Authorities: 1. Cumbria County Council”
