Legal Justification
The contract is being extended for 12 months for the following reasons: Uncertainty of funding from external partners and management of potential reduction in budget and resulting redundancy costs. Evaluation of the delivery of awarded PHE grant proposal and achievement of outcomes to enable good practice and learning to be incorporated into a new service delivery model. Implications of the findings and recommendations following the Health Secretary commissioned ‘Review of Drugs’ including possibility of investment in extra funding for substance misuse services. This will be announced as part of the comprehensive spending review.
