Total Quantity or Scope

Ulster Wildlife sought to appoint an experienced economic operator to source and obtain PVCu plastic pile sheeting, transport these materials to Ballynahone and install them at marked locations for the purposes of ecological restoration of Active Raised Bog, a priority Annex I habitat, for the EU INTERREG supported Collaborative Action for the Natura Network project. Work must be completed by February 2022, to comply with the NI Wildlife Order, and preferably by end of 2021.There were 701 dams to be installed. While most will be 4 piles wide, some drains are wider and will require more; these will be marked on site and have been included in our budget estimates. Piling purchased should be PVCu and standard Z-ribbed type. We require 119 dams at 1.5m deep, equal to 476 sheet piles (of 315mm width) allowing four at each dam AND 582 dams at 2m deep equal to 2,328 sheet piles The location of each dam has been marked with a blue flag on site and detailed instructions will be provided to the successful contractor about number of piles and size/depth of piles at each drain. Because of the very fragile nature of these raised bogs, no machinery access is permitted with the exception of low pressure tracked machinery, e.g. Argocat type vehicle.
