Description

The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) Roads and Rivers requires a Contractor to carry out Topographical Surveys at various locations throughout Northern Ireland.

Legal Justification

In accordance with Reg 72(1)b, this modification is considered to be ‘additional services by the original contractor that have become necessary and were not included in the initial procurement, where a change of contractor would cause significant inconvenience or substantial duplication of costs for the contracting authority, provided that any increase in price does not exceed 50% of the value of the original contract.’In the past year, there has been an unpredicted increase in the requirement for topographical surveys to be completed, mainly due to the increased budget for active travel projects. The Department’s ability to complete these works in-house has also reduced significantly. It is essential for these survey services to continue to be delivered, to permit the works projects to progress.
