Description

Service Description: A targeted systemic family therapy service. The service will: • Provide systemic family therapy interventions to meet children and young people's mental health needs (this includes a comprehensive list of potential interventions -for more detail see Appendix 1); • Support parents and carers; and • Liaise with the wider children and young people's workforce and, where appropriate, adult services (e.g. adult mental health services). Provision of targeted systemic family therapy delivers more intensive input than is available at a universal level, implementing evidence based interventions that require specific skills and training, to provide help and support for children and young people who have moderate mental health needs. The provider will ensure that the targeted service will provide systemic family therapy intervention for children and young people with a wide range of moderate mental health needs, including, but not limited to, children and young people with emotional problems (such as anxiety and depression), eating disorders, conduct disorder or behavioural difficulties, and somatic disorders. The annual budget is circa £80,000 per annum. Service requirements: The provider will make arrangements to ensure a family therapy team of appropriate size and with the relevant professional competencies, training and support to deliver effective targeted interventions for children and young people with moderate mental health needs, in line with the requirements of Standard Nine of the NSF for Children, Young People and Maternity Services. The provider will treat all children, young people and carers with respect and dignity, ensuring they are appropriately safeguarded and are enabled to contribute to planning their care, enabling choice and care that is personalised wherever possible. The provider will deliver care to children, young people and their families in a non-stigmatising environment, working as part of a wider network of comprehensive CAMHS in Plymouth. This process is being carried out by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioners, NHS Devon CCG.
