Description

NWL CCG requires a service to support the national Latent TB Infection ("LTBI") testing and treatment programme which sets to systematically screen and treat individuals with LTBI through the GP new patient registration process. The programme aims to significantly reduce the incidence of 'Active' TB resulting from reactivation of latent TB in North West London CCG. The contract relates to the LTBI test analysis of blood samples once received from the GP. The service provided is for the provision and analysis of the Interferon Gamma Release Assay (IGRA) test for the identification of LTBI. The objectives of the service include: - Improving the early detection, diagnosis and treatment of TB. - Raised awareness of LTBI and Active TB within Primary Care and the community. - Improving quality of care and cost effectiveness of treating TB. Key services required include: - Arrangements for the collection of the sample from the phlebotomy source; - Handling and processing within the specified time limits of the test assay being employed; - Standard operating procedures for the laboratory analysis; - Interpreting and reporting and feedback of the results; and - The monitoring of quality and turnaround times. The CCG previously had a number of contracts in place with the following providers: Health Services Laboratories (HSL; The Doctors Laboratory - TDL covering Ealing, West London, Central London and H&F, Harrow and Brent); South West London Pathology at St George's University Hospital (covering Hillingdon); and a current contract with Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Service (BSPS - covering Ashford and St Peters) which run until March 2023. The total value is estimated to be £113,000.00 per annum. NWL CCG is considering options for making future arrangements for these services which may involve looking to competitively tender a NWL-wide opportunity via a further competition or to integrate the service with other pathology services. Any capable provider may come forward by 1st March 2022 to engage with the CCG. During 2022, it is anticipated that NWL CCG will be succeeded by an Integrated Care Board (ICB). Any future contract and/or procurement opportunity may therefore be in the name of the ICB.
