Description

The aim of this study is to better understand the flood risk through Shipston-on-Stour in South Warwickshire. The River Stour in South Warwickshire is approximately 37.5km in length, starting from the Head of Main River at Mitford Bridge (NGR: SP2636837150) to the confluence of the River Avon, near Stratford-upon-Avon (NGR: SP1826353360). This study extent is focussed on approximately 6km of the River Stour, from Head of Main River, upstream of Shipston-on-Stour to an appropriate location downstream of Tredington, with outputs required to be suitable to reflect the flood risk at these locations within the River Stour catchment. The Consultant shall undertake the following: - Review of the existing hydrology with verification and calibration carried out where sufficient data exists, - Hydrology review, - Update hydrology, utilising relevant existing information where possible. - Identify any further essential topographic survey required, - Provide a fit for purpose hydraulic model that produces mapped outputs for the study extent, using existing sources of data where possible. - Report discussing the outputs and improved understanding of the flood risk within the study area, and details of the changes made to the model, limitations of the model and the results. The results will include; o Maximum levels, depths flows and velocity grids, flood outline maps, ASCII grid data for 2D outputs o MapEdit outputs - Review of the Flood Alert / Warning thresholds, including details of the first properties to flood. To also include the level at which essential infrastructure will flood. This shall be detailed as a level threshold to allow, where relevant, updates to the Flood Warning Service.
