Winchester City Council is delighted to announce an open call for an experienced artist or designer to deliver a public art wall mural commission at St Maurice's Covert, right in the heart of the historical city of Winchester. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to contribute to the St Maurice's Covert Public Realm Improvement Scheme on the High Street.

This open call is an invitation for expressions of interest. At this stage artists are not expected to deliver final designs. The panel are looking for an indicative idea based on the project brief, a rationale, how you would approach the project, thoughts on materials and to demonstrate a relevant portfolio of previous work and experience. Please email DEdgington@winchester.gov.uk for a copy of the project scope, the artistic brief and details on how to respond to the open call. When sending an expression of interest, please include: • CV and contact details including any relevant website address/es • Two examples of work undertaken that are similar to this with some text and images • A draft sketch or montage of your idea. • A rationale - how you would approach the project including thoughts on materials Expressions of interest should be emailed by 12 noon on Monday 14 March 2022. Up to three PDF file/s no larger than 10Mb each should be emailed to Deborah Edgington at DEdgington@winchester.gov.uk The evaluation panel will short-list three submissions, based on the artist's initial ideas, along with a proven track record and portfolio. If successfully short-listed, the three artists will be invited to take part in the second stage of the selection process for which they will each receive a fee of £500.
