To take the design concept and layouts to provide construction drawings and give principle designer support through out the project
Total Quantity or Scope
The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland will be embarking on an exciting new build project to the Highland Wildlife Park near Kingussie. The Scottish Wildlife Discovery Centre will consist of 3 new build structures and 1 refurbishment of our existing visitors’ centre. The build value has previously been estimated at just under 2 million pounds. Our aim is to have the buildings a sustainable as possible with the target for one of the buildings to be as “off grid” as possible. We are aiming for traditional styles buildings with leading technologies ensuing we are setting the trends in sustainable buildings, reducing our carbon footprint and reducing our need for fossil fuels. There will be the need for some feasibility work to be completed early in the project so your assistance in any value engineering will be required. We will also require assistance in preparing the tenders for the contractors including interviews and issuing contracts. The project is at RIBA stage 3 and is ready to begin the technical design. We will require Architect, Principle designer support throughout the design, tender and build phases of the project. We expect this to run for approximately 1.5 years starting January 2022 with completion targeted summer 2023. We wish to tender out the building work with a full bill of quantities and we will require you to provide regular reports, site inspections and provide any further information required by the client. Throughout this period you will be required to attend project meetings at least once a month. These meetings will be based at the Highland Wildlife park however there may be rare occasions where they will be held at Edinburgh or over video call.

Legal Justification
This project has an extremely tight time scale and has been previously delayed due to Covid 19. The construction work must also be completed by July 2023 to ensure funders criteria is met.
