The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for a CPD External Trainer Framework on behalf of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, Training Centre at Catcliffe, South Yorkshire.

1 Fundamentals of Metallurgy

This course is an overview of the essential properties of metals, how they are produced and where they are used.

2 Metallurgy for Non-Metallurgists

This course aims to provide a sound understanding of the scientific principles of metallurgy and how to apply them to specify and process metals in an industrial context.

3 Metallography & Microscopy

This course covers the theory and practicalities of optical and electron microscopy.

4 Metals Processing & Manufacturing Technologies

This course gives an overview of the secondary and down-stream processes involved in the production of major industrial metals, including steel, aluminium, titanium and nickel alloys and their finished components.

5 Principles of Heat Treatment

This course will provide a sound understanding of the beneficial effects of heat treatment to a range of ferrous and light metal alloys

6 Quality & Quality Control

This course addresses the key aspects of quality from the perspective of engineering services and product manufacture.

7 Metallurgical Failure Analysis & Prevention

An introduction to the mechanisms of material failure due to mechanical and environmental factors.

This is a technical course describing the techniques used to determine the mechanical properties of metals and for non-destructive testing (NDT) of structures and components

This is a technical course that describes the various mechanisms by which metals and alloys corrode and the technologies preventing it.

10 Carbon & Alloy Steel Metallurgy

This course focuses on basic metallurgical principles, primary and secondary steel making processes, how steels are specified and evaluated, and matching grades to applications

11 Stainless Steel Metallurgy

A technical course covering all aspects of the production and use of a range of stainless steel alloys

12 Non-Ferrous Alloys

A technical course describing the production, features and applications of Aluminium, Copper, Nickel & Titanium alloys.
