Description
The Council is seeking to commission a service provider to develop multi-cultural print media material to promote understanding of the recommended levels of physical activity across the life course. In line with the UK Chief Medical Officer Guidelines on Physical Activity and the WHO recommendations, and the work should enable understanding of these recommendations in practice in the context of people's culture and heritage alongside increasing the understanding of the benefits to health. Four commonwealth languages have been selected for this campaign, these have been identified based on the most commonly spoken non-English first languages in Birmingham in the 2011 Census and the ethnic communities identified with the highest level of inactivity in the Sport England Active Lives surveys. The four languages are as follows: o Urdu - Pakistan & India o Panjabi - mainly India o Bengali - main language in Bangladesh o Pahari - India & Pakistan The successful provider will deliver final product complete by May 2022 to be disseminated via the appropriate channels by June 2022 as part of the celebration of the Commonwealth Games. The key deliverables for this project include: - Four language based digital print media toolkits to promote the recommended levels of physical activity, increase understanding of the health benefits and support culturally appropriate activity developed through collaborative community translation to ensure strong cultural competency and resonance. Digital versions must meet UK accessibility standards for web publishing. - English translated version of toolkits with additional notes to provide context of cultural relevance where required. - The use of Harvard reference throughout as required
