Description

Researchers within the Surgical Innovation theme of the NIHR Bristol Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) are conducting work to optimise the safe, transparent and efficient evaluation of new and evolving surgical procedures and surgical devices during their introduction and development in routine clinical practice. Collection and analysis of information about the technical components of the surgical procedure, procedure modifications, the patients, surgeons' experiences and outcomes of surgery as the use of a new procedure/device evolves is necessary for the evaluation of new and evolving procedures/devices. The team are looking to tender for the provision of a single, secure, UK cloud-based electronic database/platform accessible by surgeons/researchers from within and outside NHS hospital trusts to facilitate the collection, storage and analysis of study data, including surgical imaging, relating to multiple innovative surgical procedures performed at various participating UK NHS hospital Trusts. The team are seeking to offer a contract for a supplier to work with them on the initial design and subsequent iterative development of this database/platform. This will be Phase 1 of a potential two-phase project. The database/platform may be an existing solution or a more bespoke solution. However, it is a requirement that the database/platform will need to be refined throughout phase 1 based on testing and feedback from users.
