Description

The University is seeking to charter a research vessel to undertake a 28-day research cruise to the North Sea, North Atlantic and north Icelandic shelf in order to collect shallow sediment cores, bivalve mollusc shell and supporting environmental datasets as part of the ERC SEACHANGE Project. The departure port is Southampton and the arrival port Reykjavik.

Total Quantity or Scope

The University is seeking to charter a research vessel to undertake a 28-day research cruise to the North Sea, North Atlantic and north Icelandic shelf in order to collect shallow sediment cores, bivalve mollusc shell and supporting environmental datasets as part of the ERC SEACHANGE Project. The departure port is Southampton and the arrival port Reykjavik. The vessel must have the following capability: • Seabird 911 stainless steel CTD with altimeter and Niskin 20 litre water bottles • Megacorer with USBL positioning, 12 tube (3 sets of 0.5 m tubes), 2 plunger systems, liner racks for 24 tubes • 12m piston corer with USBL positioning • 3m gravity corer with USBL positioning • Core splitter table • 24-tooth steel box Arctica dredge (x2) • 20’ reefer container • Winch with pennant wire • Topas sub-bottom profiler • EM710 Multibeam echosounder (swath bathymetry) • 2*-20 Freezer for scientific use • 1* Fridge for sample storage • Vessel must be available from 16/04/2022 to 16/05/2022 • Accommodation for science party of 25 in single cabins • Seminar room • 24 hour working pattern
