Description

The London Borough of Bromley seeks to commission a single provider to deliver an efficient and responsive Appropriate Adult Service, as defined by the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (1984) and its Codes of Practice for Children & Young People (CYP), aged 10 to 17 inclusive, and vulnerable adults aged 18 years and over - where a parent, guardian, carer and or support worker (as appropriate) is unable or unwilling to attend and the vulnerable person has mental health needs or learning disabilities and who are under arrest within the borough of Bromley, or neighbouring boroughs should no custody suite be available. An Appropriate Adult is responsible for protecting (or 'safeguarding') the rights and welfare of a CYP or vulnerable adult who is detained by police, is interviewed under caution voluntarily or undergoing an age assessment. The service is required to be available, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for every day of the year. The service provider will have in place arrangements to ensure the continuity of the service to include all planned and unplanned absences. The Council is seeking to procure experienced service providers who understand the specialism of this type of service, have the knowledge and skills to deliver a quality service in accordance with the specifications by working in partnership with the Council.
