Within each Contract, the works may include but not be limited to the supply and installation of various types of street lighting columns and attachments, traffic posts and attachments, luminaires and their components, traffic equipment, feeder pillars and their components, cable joints etc. for the following contract areas: SLN1. Contract 3. 2017. — Causeway Coast + Glens, SLE1. Contract 1. 2017. — Belfast, SLS1. Contract 2. 2017. — Armagh, Banbridge + Craigavon, SLW1. Contract 4. 2017. — Mid Ulster.

Legal Justification

The contract has been affected by the 'Invest to Save Initiative’, which was launched in 2017. This initiative is aimed at reducing energy and maintenance costs by retrofitting all sodium street lights with LED lanterns in the next ten years. This could not have been foreseen by a diligent contracting authority. If it had not been for an unforeseen LED retrofit initiative and some unpredictable events, the anticipated contract value set in July 2017 would have been accurate for the contract’s duration.
