This contract is was originally tendered for the deep cleansing and chewing gum removal on the city centre streets in Manchester and is Manchester. The Contract Value has increased by an additional £100k due to be carried out using a steam cleansing additional work varied into the Contract. The additional work will involve deep cleansing/power washing of high street/areas in the city as part of additional beatification and pressure water system. support for the high street recovery. Improving the cleanliness standards of the public realm around and supporting key high footfall such as China Town, Piccadilly approach, Piccadilly Gardens (plus surrounding streets), Northern Quarter, Deansgate etc. Also incorporating some key areas outside of city centre such as district centres. The work will be both programmed and reactive in that there will be a set pattern, but will also look at demand/deterioration on a weekly basis to ensure the resource and the agreed areas are maintained to the highest possible standards. This would be estimated to run from August 1st 2021 until just after Christmas 2021 at a total cost of 100k (roughly 20k per month). This Commission is dependant on funding approval from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) allocated to councils in 2020 and forming part of the wider support national government is providing to communities and businesses through the ‘Welcome Back Fund’. Enabling the protection of jobs, providing support for the most vulnerable and ensuring no one is left behind as Councils continue to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic and begin to rebuild recovery as the country continues to operate throughout the pandemic.
