Total Quantity or Scope
The University of Sussex has a campus and residencies located in Falmer, Sussex and intends to replace and upgrade its existing IT Network infrastructure (wired and wireless) across the campus. This highly visible flagship programme will provide a modern, secure, high speed wired and wireless campus data network to help the University achieve its strategic objectives of delivering “a world class education that transforms our students’ lives and futures”, facilitating “research with impact; knowledge and ideas that transform the world”. The network replacement programme will provide an upgrade of wired and wireless IT network infrastructure across campus, enhanced network security and resilience and lay the foundations for the future digital campus by providing students, researchers, staff, and visitors with the following: • An expanded Wi-Fi service across the campus, including outside spaces, to enable flexible and hybrid working and studying • A highly flexible, energy-efficient, and resilient wired network • Security designed into every element to maximise the protection of data and privacy • Greater network capacity and resilience through upgraded inter-building connectivity • Increased internet performance to support our remote, cloud-based world • Location-based services enabling on-campus route finding, information and signposting • Improved consistency and equity of service across residencies, allowing students to have an ‘at home’ experience and allowing them to utilise their smart technologies and devices • A data-rich environment opening new insights for the University to target services • Support for the Internet of Things (IoT) and modern services such as unified communications. The benefits attributed to the NRP are enhanced security, improved student satisfaction, reduced CO2 emissions, increased business continuity, faster and more secure data transfers. Renewal Options
The contract will be for a maximum of 90 months, including 30 months for implementation and 60 months for support and maintenance (TBC) It is envisaged that this will be an initial contract of 90 months and two optional 12-month extensions, to be awarded separately or combined at the discretion of the University. Initial 2.5-year contract with option for 5 years and possible 2-year extensions (maximum 4 extensions). Extension options will act as break points for contract review and allow for a refresh of the network should this be required.
