Description
NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership who are hosted by Velindre NHS Trust acting on behalf of Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board who wished to inform the market that they intended to award a contract for the provision of a Sonographer and Health Care Assistant to support Non-Obstetric Ultrasound (NOUS) clinics.
Total Quantity or Scope
The service will comprise of; - staff to support clinics - Confirmation of patient identity, explanation of the procedure to the patient - Review of patient notes/and Ultrasound request - Performance of ultrasound scan - Reporting of scan results as per hospital protocol The service allows for scans of the following general body parts / areas: - General abdominal – includes assessment of the aorta, biliary tract, gallbladder, inferior vena cava, kidneys, liver, pancreas, retroperitoneum and spleen; - Gynaecology – including transabdominal and transvaginal; - Renal / bladder / prostate; - Scrotal / testicular. The Heath Board will provide suitable NHS premises and be responsible for ensuring clinical rooms are booked for clinic sessions. The Health Board will also provide the equipment whilst the provider will ensure all staff are appropriately qualified and put in place supervision arrangements for all levels of staff including induction and clinical supervision.
