Lightwoods House and Park Catering Unit TBW046 This invitation to tender is for the operation of a catering unit at Lightwoods House and Park in Bearwood, Sandwell. The catering unit within Lightwoods House, which is owned by Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, is currently trading as 'Jonathans in the Park' (Jonathans) under a 5 year concession agreement which ends in 2022. Lightwoods House is situated only 10 minutes drive from 'The Roundhouse' with its tranquil canal side attractions plus the bustling city centre of Birmingham. The House is just a 6 minute drive from junctions 2 & 3 of the M5, within 300 yardss of busy Bearwood High Street. There is ample free secure parking onsite as well as roadside parking and pay & display parking only a minutes walk away. It is set up as a tea-room/restaurant and also provides takeaway services within the 18th century grade II property, Lightwoods House. The current menu is a traditional British style menu with breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and Sunday lunches served. Lightwoods House is a premium venue owned by Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, and has benefited from significant investment from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and Sandwell Council. Lightwoods House delivers a programme of events throughout the year, including heritage, culture, art and community activities. The building also serves as offices and spaces for several tenants, a children's nursery, and venue for classes (including yoga, crafts, and other). There is also an active volunteers group who run events and activities and support the running of the House. Lightwoods House is also a premium venue for party, event, and wedding hire. The three-year business plan for Lightwoods House (22/23 - 25/26) aims for an increase to between 30 - 40 weddings a year, and around the same number of parties and event hire. Lightwoods House is situated in Lightwoods Park, which boasts an impressed range of parks facilities including gym equipment, a skate park, bandstand, adventure playground, and gardens and open space. Several hundred thousand people visit or use Lightwoods Park a year, and the park benefits from Green Flag status. The successful operator will enter into an agreement to run a caf? / restaurant offer at Lightwoods House for a period of 5 years with an option, at the discretion of the council, to extend for a period not exceeding 2 years. The successful operator will be appointed in August 2022 and the operator open in the catering unit by 1st February 2023 (taking occupancy from 1st January 2023). The specification required for a successful operator is including in this invitation to tender.
